Fewer mooncakes is better!!

Summary

Asian people can not celebrate The Moon Festival without eating mooncakes every year. But according to the University of Kansas nutritionist mooncakes is not good for everyone. People decided to still eat mooncakes even they know it is bad for their body.

ELAINE LING (student, University of Kansas): I got this pineapple favorite of mooncake and now let me open it to see how it test like.

KU senior Elaine Ling just has her first test of the mooncake for this year.  The Mid-Autumn Festival is on the fifteenth day of the eight-month of the lunar calendar. The moon will become the biggest and brightest in the enter year. Asian people like to eat mooncakes to celebrate in this day. KU graduate student Pearl Suphakarn says about how often she eats mooncakes.

PEARL SUPHAKARN (Graduate student, University of Kansas): only once a year during The Moon Festival.

According to the KU public health educator Ken Sarber, he didn’t recommend people to eat mooncakes at all. It has lots of calories and sugar with a little protein in it. It is just not healthy for people. Pearl thinks it is ok to eat mooncakes.

PEARL SUPHAKRAN: I will still eat it, because we only eat once a year. So- Only at The Moon Festival, so I guess it’s ok. It won’t hurt you that bad.

Johnny Chen who live in overland park Kansas says it’s why still important for people to eat mooncakes even it is not good for your body.

JOHNNY CHEN: it’s because mooncake symbolize family gather in Chinese tradition similar to American people’s Thanksgiving.
